Metrics are crucial and it’s good to be data-driven, esp to be clear what you’re shooting for.

However, it’s easy to lose sight of the purpose and game the metrics. Chasing things like hitting 100% of goals or 6 nines uptime can mean you’re not innovating and taking risks.
